Research

Based on the creation of innovative plant varieties which are integrated into a sustainable agricultural programme, AGRI OBTENTIONS research relies on numerous partnerships.

The portfolio of plant varieties distributed by AO includes more than 450 varieties spread across 10 groups of species.

Three major sources supply the variety portfolio:

  • INRA Programmes
Under the responsibility of the DGAP (Genetics and Plant Breeding Department), the INRA programmes provides means to genetic innovation as much in the field crop species as in horticultural species. These programmes are basically oriented towards research into disease resistance and the performance of the varieties in situations where input is reduced.
  • AGRI OBTENTIONS Programmes
Piloted by the Research Department of AGRI OBTENTIONS, the programmes directly take into account the needs of the markets. The main objectives are to bring about high-performance varieties, of excellent quality and good resistance to bio aggressors to meet the expectations of the various Food and Industry channels.
  • Partnerships
Numerous partnership agreements have been signed between INRA, AGRI OBTENTIONS and seed companies and organizations throughout the world. These exchanges of skills and material make it possible to test our partners’ varieties and to validate their performance in our own cultivation conditions.
  • Evaluation network
In addition to the breeding work in laboratories and in nurseries, the research relies also on a network of trials in the field. These numerous testing stations enable us to assess new varieties in all the large production regions in France and abroad.
